The e-CAR ADDITIVE FOAMS project is carried out by the consortium formed by the Automotive Cluster of Castilla y León (FACYL), and the companies Aenium Engineering, Novadep Scientific, and Lingotes Especiales.
This project consists of 3 phases. The first phase, which is currently being carried out, aims to investigate variable Microfoams structures generated through laser sintering additive manufacturing processes (PBF-LB). The objective is to reduce the specific weight and increase the heat transfer rate for electric vehicle applications such as battery cooling systems and structural elements.
In this first phase, another objective is the integration of non-destructive analysis systems, CT Scan X-Ray, to reduce the development stages of variable Microfoam structures and to analyse and inspect each component generated.
Thanks to this innovative application of the technology, the cost of the electric vehicle will be reduced and the efficiency of certain components will be increased.
The e-Car Additive FOAMs project is co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism through the 2023 call for applications under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to support Innovative Business Clusters.
